These roles are the remedial, the preventive and developmental. 56 no. of the aggrieved women have benefited directly through the counseling center of ICDA.

FREE COMPUTER EDUCATION TRAINING

The participation of women in economic activities particularly outside the home is often posited as an important enabling factor in the economic and social empowerment of women. Not only can employment be a source of economic independence, but also it can help to give women a sense of self worth. In order to enhance the necessary skills in women to get paid employment, ICDA is offering free one-year computer education to women/girls. The programme is stipendiary. Every student under the programme get Rs.250/- P.M. as stipend. 82 no. of trainees have got placement in both formal and informal sectors. Dept. of Women & Child Development of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India under NORAD Scheme, sponsored the entire programme.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

It is observed that lack of access to vocational skills and training is one of the important factors under mining the economic value of adolescent girls. Moreover, a high rate of participation in the unorganized sectors and hazardous industries is also responsible for making them vulnerable to all kinds of exploitation. Realizing the importance of cultivating skills in the adolescent girls through need based vocational training ICDA has set up 2 nos. of girls tailoring training center, one at Gujidarada Grampanchayat and the other at Baudpur under Bhadrak Block of Bhadrak Dist. The adolescent girls are provided training at free of cost.

WOMEN SELF HELP GROUP

The minority (Muslim) and scheduled caste women of Dhamnagar Block under Bhadrak District are organized by ICDA to form self help group(SHG) in order to quicken the process of their social and economic development. The organization has formed 50 women SHG with around 750 members in them. A self-help group of ICDA usually consists of 12 to 20 women who came together to save or lend amongst themselves. This is done at an agreed rate of interest with the idea of inculcating financial discipline and freeing the members from other exorbitant sources of credit like village moneylenders. Also the organization is taking lead to establish link between Bank and Self Help Group, when the groups are matured enough to take an external financial assistance. At present the SHGs are motivated to such an extent that they procure work order from Block Development Office and execute the same in their respective areas.
